Operation:

Operation:

• 1. Activation of inputs 1-8 Sends out Ascii '1', '2', '3', '4', '5', '6', '7' or '8' followed by <CR> (Carriage Return), because the BrightSign is normally looking for 'Strings'.
  Note: Option1 Selects Binary or String as the output when a button is pressed. 
• 2. Send a single byte to control the output drivers (binary byte). See the table below

Note: Rev 2.1 firmware (09/30/2014) update:

1. Allows for repeat of the same switch closure.  Prior firmware did not report the same switch closure (multiple closures of the same switch).
2. When no switches are pressed (switches are released), a '0' (zero) is reported.
3. Multiple switch closures reported.  I.E. Switch 1 is pressed (and held), then switch 2 is pressed, switch 2 will be reported as a new switch closure.

A single byte controls the Lights of the switches (buttons). To control the Lights, send a byte (use the 'serialsendbyte' command in BrightAuthor). The lamps will light according to the bit pattern of the 'Port Byte'.  I.E. Bit 0 of the byte, will turn on Switch1 Light.

Example: To set the Lights, Send the byte that represents the bits of the output (see table below)

Just add the decimal numbers together to get the bits set that you want.  Setting all bits on (all lights on) is 255d (decimal).  Setting bits 0 and 7 on is 128+1 or 129 decimal

Custom Overlays:  We can supply 2 color Custom Overlay (text and background are 2 colors):   Setup of $200 + $4 per overlay (less than 100).  This is very cost effective. You an get 10 custom overlays for $240.  Delivery about 2-3 weeks from date of order.
