Brightsign USB-A-8IO
for some BrightSign units w/USB
USB-A-8IO

- 8 Logic Outputs (USB-A-0x8) or 8 Logic Inputs (USB-A-8x0) or Custom
- Plugs directly into some BrightSigns!
- On board LED's to indicate 5V Power and processor running
This board solves the need for a simple 'low cost' expansion port for the
Brightsign Video Player. The board has a cutout to clear cables on most
BrightSign units. Please verify that it will suit your mechanical
requirements of your BrightSign before ordering
USB Setup: In BrightAuthor, select Presentation Properties, Serial Setup and
select port2. Set the port to 19,200, Ascii mode. The USB-Serial
Interface is handled by a Prolific USB-Serial converter and appears as a serial
port in BrightAuthor.
Operation:
8 Outputs:
- The board powers up with all outputs low (0V). Send a single decimal
byte to control all 8 outputs. Use the 'serial sendbyte comma separated'
command.
- Link: Binary to decimal
info:
8 Inputs:
- Close the inputs to 0V to activate the inputs. The imputs are reported
as strings to the BrightSign and are evaluated as decimal in BrightAuthor.
I.E. Sending "1",13 causes a serial string event and evaluates as 1 (not "1").
- When an input is released (goes back high by internal pull-up resistor)
an 8 is added to the string. I.E. "81",13 indicates input 1 was released.
This scheme allows the programmer to respond to inputs going high if needed.
Custom:
The board can be ordered with custom inputs/outputs. Allow
a couple of extra days for custom orders.
- USB-A-7X1 = 7 INPUTS, 1 OUTPUT
- USB-A-6X2 = 6 INPUTS, 2 OUTPUTS
- USB-A-5X3 = 5 INPUTS, 3 OUTPUTS
- USB-A-4X4 = 4 INPUTS, 4 OUTPUTS
- USB-A-3X5 = 3 INPUTS, 5 OUTPUTS
- USB-A-2X6 = 2 INPUTS, 6 OUTPUTS
- USB-A-1X7 = 1 INPUTS, 7 OUTPUTS
Note: Inputs are the low inputs (1 thru ?) and outputs are the high
outputs (2-?) I.E. if USB-A-4x4 inputs are 1-4 and outputs are 5-8
